The Conway Dinner Theater announced its new theater location and summer play at the Academy of Arts in Conway. “9 to 5” is a musical version of the hit movie. In the story, Violet, the super-efficient office manager, joins her fellow co-workers — frazzled divorcée, Judy, and sexy secretary, Doralee — to turn the tables on their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot” of a boss, Franklin Hart Jr.
In a turn of events, the three stars live out their wildest fantasy — giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?
“9 to 5: The Musical” features a score by seven-time Grammy Award winner Dolly Parton that includes the blockbuster title song, plus a book by original screenwriter Patricia Resnick. The musical premiered in Los Angeles in September 2008 and opened on Broadway in April 2009. It received 15 Drama Desk Award nominations as well as 4 Tony Awards nominations.
