Arkansas House to vote on 20-week abortion bill

Posted: February 21, 2013 - 8:43am

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas House is set to vote on a bill that would ban most abortions in the state at 20 weeks into a pregnancy.

Lawmakers are scheduled to vote on Thursday on final passage of the legislation. A previous version of the bill passed the House 75-20.

The version lawmakers will consider Thursday includes exemptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother, but not for any lethal fetal disorders. The proposal is based on the disputed idea that fetuses can feel pain at 20 weeks.

The House will also consider a separate measure to ban most abortions at 12 weeks into a pregnancy.

Gov. Mike Beebe has said he has constitutional concerns about both bills but declined to say whether he would veto them.

"includes exemptions for rape, incest and

the life of the mother, but not for any lethal fetal disorders."

Yes, let's get it delivered so it can die in Mom and Dad's arms. It will be much better that way, so the parents can suffer even more.

A stretch?

Gee, i_blunder, you had to go all the way to Argentina for that gem? I thought that the Weekly World News was out of print.

But, I see your point. Things like this would be less likely to happen if people abandoned science-based medicine and just prayed harder.

No looks like he went to

the reputable Yahoo Blogs for that one. But based on this one true (obviously) blog point, we will force women to bear children who have been found through testing to have fatal disorders. Yeah. The prince of pro-life strikes again.

It makes a difference

You suggest that it worthless efforts because it is one instance out of who knows how many. Its like the story we all have heard. I'll be quick with it.

A little girl was walking on a beach and came across thousands of star fish washed up. She started throwing them back in the water one at a time when someone asked what she was doing. She said, "I'm saving these star fish."

The person laughed and told her, "Why? There is no possible way you can save them all before they die. Why are you wasting your time, you will never make a difference."

The little girl picked up another and threw back into the water, looked at the person and said, "For that one, I made a difference."

If that one child in Argentina had been yours, I seriously doubt you would scoffing at the notion right now.
