Conway native Petty Officer Zachary Brown was recently promoted to the rank of petty officer 2nd class at his current command; U.S. Central Command.

He graduated from Conway High School in 2005. In 2010, he graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

Petty Officer Brown is an intelligence specialist for the Navy and his analysis of information helps drive the decision making of senior military leaders.

“I really like learning to work with all of the complex computer systems and providing detailed analysis to people who need it,” said Brown. “Serving in the Navy allows me to see the other side of world events and gives me a sense of making a real difference, I’m not just an observer.”

U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility includes countries in the Middle East, Northern Africa and Central Asia, including Iraq and Afghanistan.
