Conway native receives appointment to Air Force Academy

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colorado, — Isaac Gowen Powers, son of Dr. Edward L. Powers and Kathy A. Powers of Conway, received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, located in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Powers graduated with honors from Conway High School and was a four-year varsity letter winner on the swim team.

His Air Force Academy appointment is equivalent to being offered a full four-year scholarship to a top-tier university. The value of this appointment, based on the cost per graduate, is estimated to be $403,000.

When Powers graduates, he will receive a Bachelor of Science degree and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force. The Air Force Academy, through rigorous course work and discipline, will prepare him to take up the challenge of leadership in defense of our country.


City considers rezonings, more

The Conway City Council will consider rezoning properties, reclassifying a city position and rebidding a project during its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Russell L. “Jack” Roberts District Court Building.
