Amended bag policy for UCA

The University of Central Arkansas has amended its bag policy f0r ticketed athletic events to coincide with similar policies in stadiums and arenas throughout the country.

Instead of no bags, clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags will be allowed as long as they don’t exceed 12”x6”x12.”

Also, clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc or similar) will be permitted as well as small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5” x 6.5” (approximately the size of an average hand).

An exception will be made for medically necessary items and childcare bags after proper inspection at the gate.

All bags will still be subject to search upon entry.

UA-A&M set for 11 a.m.

FAYETTEVILLE - ESPN will televise the Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Texas A&M Aggies SEC opener Sept. 23 and has set an 11 a.m. CDT kickoff time at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Coach Kevin Sumlin’s Aggies, a struggling 1-1 upon losing a 44-10 third-quarter lead in a 45-44 season-opening loss at UCLA, was tied 14-14 by Nicholls State last Saturday in the fourth quarter at A&M’s Kyle Field in College Station, Texas before finally prevailing, 24-14, host Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday at Kyle Field.

Coach Bret Bielema’s Razorbacks, also a struggling 1-1, frosted lower division cupcake Florida A&M, 49-7 for openers but was “embarrassed,” Bielema said, losing 28-7 to now 20th-ranked TCU last Saturday before a sold-out, 73,000-plus at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks have an open date week, their lone open date of the season, for extra time to regroup and refocus. They used Monday as their mandated NCAA one off day per week while Bielema went out recruiting.

They will start their week of closed practices today with Bielema, offensive coordinator Dan Enos and defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads meeting media Wednesday.
