A new external division has been unveiled by the University of Central Arkansas Athletics Department that will concentrate on development, marketing and fan and donor engagement.
The new external team is under the direction of Matt Whiting, formerly the Assistant Athletic Director for Development who has the new title of Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations. The staff includes Colton Primm (Director of Development), Jamie Ashmore (Director of Marketing) and Ebony Jackson (Director of Ticket Operations).
Whiting will also oversee the efforts of John Donald and Neal McArthur, who make up UCA Sports Properties, a division of Peak Sports Management that manages UCA’s athletic corporate sponsorships.
“Matt has proven his leadership abilities and is ready to lead our new external team of marketing, sponsorships, development, and ticketing,” said Brad Teague, UCA athletic director. “We are excited about our external team. Under Matt’s leadership, this team is focused on promoting our great brand, therefore providing great opportunities for external funding. There is not a better time in our Division I history than right now. This external team is ready to capitalize on the many great programs UCA has to offer. They can truly sell and market the accomplishments of our student-athletes and coaches.
“Having all external areas focused on our mission and working together will enable our program to rise to new heights. I can’t wait to see what this next academic year will bring the Central Arkansas brand.”
Primm, a former standout basketball player at Hendrix College, joined UCA Athletics last November.
“Since joining the staff in November, Colton’s creative and intentional approach has proved invaluable to our development operation,” said Whiting. “His professionalism and strong work ethic continue to impact the Purple Circle and our outstanding group of supporters.”
Jackson, a Troy University and Northwestern State graduate, arrived at UCA this month to direct all of UCA’s athletic ticket operations.
“Ebony has already made a positive impact on our ticketing operation in the short amount of time she has been on campus,” said Whiting. “I feel fortunate to have Ebony on board and know that her experiences in ticketing, as well as her proven ability to provide exceptional customer service, will be noticed immediately by our season ticket holders.”
Ashmore, an Arkansas Tech graduate, is no stranger to UCA athletics, having served in the athletic advising office on campus since 2012.
“One of the first things that stands out about Jaime is her undeniable rapport with our coaches and student-athletes,” said Whting. “I am confident that this, along with her innovative ideas and passion for UCA, will certainly enhance our game day experience and overall marketing efforts.”
Whiting, a University of Arkansas at Monticello graduate and former athlete, joined the department in last June.
“I am honored that Dr. Teague has afforded me the opportunity to lead our external team,” he said. “Under his leadership and guidance, we will all work tirelessly to provide value and enhance the image of the university and our outstanding athletics program.”
