Schedule announced for UCA women’s soccer
After the most successful season in program history in 2016, the Central Arkansas women’s soccer team will play eight home matches and 11 road matches this season.
After heading to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for an exhibition match against Southeast Missouri State on Aug. 11th, the Bears will open the season with a pair of in-state road matches against Little Rock and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on the weekend of Aug. 18-20.
UCA will make its home debut on Friday, Aug. 25 in a men-women doubleheader against Missouri State before taking on Mississippi State on the road. The Bears also have non-conference games against Kansas State and Oral Roberts.
“I think we’re really fortunate in our location to have some quality opponents in what would be considered local or regional games,” said coach Jeremy Bishop.
The Bears will open Southland Conference play on the road this season against Sam Houston State on Sept. 15.
“It’s going to be a tough scheduled. We’ve got some of the teams that were at the top of the league coming to us, in SFA and Houston Baptist, so that’ll be good for us,” said Bishop of a team that will be trying to repeat a regular-season title.
The Southland Conference tournament will return to Corpus Christi, Texas this season, to be hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
