The Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center will host the ninth annual Kids Run Arkansas at 6 p.m. Friday at Laurel Park.
“The 9th Annual Kids Run Arkansas event promotes fun and fitness to children of all ages and their families,” event organizers said in a news release. “The run does not include chip timing, but every child who registered by the deadline of April 4 receives a Road I.D. race bib. Each child who completes the 1- or 3-mile run/walk will receive a finisher’s medal.”
The event also includes face painting, games and other activities leading up to the run/walk.
Kids Run Arkansas was established in 2008 with registration growing from 209 the first year to nearly 1,000 in 2016.
“Each year, the Faulkner County schools with the highest percentage of student participation are awarded scholarships for their physical education programs,” organizers said. “In 2016, scholarships valued at $9,000 were awarded.”
