5-year-old killed in auto accident on I-40

A 5-year-old Hot Springs girl was killed when she was ejected from the car she was travelling in after it was hit on Interstate 40 in Conway Friday night.

According to the Arkansas State Police report, Ester Lazar was travelling eastbound on the interstate with her family in a 2006 Toyota when the vehicle was rear-ended by another car. The vehicle carrying Ester and three other passengers overturned several times, ejecting the girl from the car. The driver of the Toyota was not hurt, but two other passengers, Lucia Lazar, 42, and Jonathon Lazar, 7, were injured and taken to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

The report stated that the accident occured at about the 135 mile marker.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet, was not injured. No information has been provided on any pending charges facing the driver of the Chevrolet. The driver's name was not released. According to the report, the weather was clear and the roads were dry.
