Arkansas Regional Commissions Board Secretary Mary Boyd updated directors on personnel and the budget during the board’s annual meeting Tuesday.
The manager at East Oakwood was replaced after she gave a one-month notice of her intent to retire.
Kaleena Meachun took over as manager Sept. 30, Boyd said, after the board approved her.
“[Meachun] stepped in immediately,” Boyd said. “It worked out very well.”
The decades-old buildings need some capital improvements, she said.
“We’re facing a lot of growing pains,” Boyd said.
In the upcoming year, The Conway Housing Authority plans to replace 20 percent of its HVAC units at both sites; East Oakwood plans to carpet the hallway and complete the roofing on two of its buildings.
This month, The Village of Seven Mornings will replace its two back staircases on the east side by Evans Works out of Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Oakwood Apartments received an emergency million dollar grant from HUD when the sewer system started to fail earlier this year.
“Oakwood is under construction,” Boyd told the board Tuesday.
