City considers bonuses, overtime

The Conway City Council will discuss overtime for the police department and bonuses for city employees during its regular meeting Tuesday.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the District Court Building and is open to the public. There is no committee meeting.

Aldermen will consider an ordinance appropriating $50,000 for Operation Shop Secure to cover overtime expenses for the Conway Police Department.

“The Conway Police Department needs these funds in order to increase police presence in all shopping areas throughout the City of Conway during the holidays which will provide a safer shopping experience for the citizens of Conway,” the ordinance reads in part.

They will also consider appropriating $216,100 to give all full-time employees a $350 bonus and all part-time employees a $150 bonus.

“All part time elected officials are excluded,” according to the agenda packet. “To receive a bonus, employees must be hired prior to the last full pay period in November and must be actively employed on the date of distribution. Employees pending termination will not receive any appreciation bonus.”
