Residents to weigh in on homeless shelter

Conway residents will be given the opportunity to speak for or against a proposed homeless shelter later this month.

A public hearing regarding the rezoning and conditional-use permit request will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Russell L. “Jack” Roberts District Court Building.

Soul Food Cafe Mission filed an application with the Conway Planning Commission asking property at 1717 S. Donaghey Avenue be rezoned and for an accompanying conditional-use permit “to allow religious activities and a shelter for the homeless.”

Residents who live in the surrounding areas, such as Spring Valley, Southwind, Marlise Manor and Salem Woods, were notified of the request and the hearing but all Conway residents are welcome to attend and give input.
