The warming center located at the McGee Center at 3800 College Ave. will remain open from 7 p.m. today until 7 a.m. tomorrow.
Mike Rush of the Ministry Center, which has provided food and transportation to the McGee Center, said they will not provide the services tonight due to lack of demand.
“If we open, we mobilize volunteers,” he said. “We’re stymied, but we think it’s a lack of exposure and some trust issues. We’re going to huddle and figure out the best way to get cold people warm.”
Rush said only one person used the services on Jan. 7, and no one arrived at the Ministry Center on Jan. 8.
Brandon Jones, facility monitor at the McGee Center, said only three to four people have used the warming center over the last two days.
