It’s time to start fall rehearsals for Conway Women’s Chorus. Their first three rehearsals are open so that you can come and sample. They meet every Tuesday starting September 2 at 7 p.m. in Conway; but women come from about a twenty mile radius to sing with this fun group.
Under the direction of Joan Hanna, the Chorus was formed in 2005 to inspire women, ages 15 to 75, to sing for fun. They sing two, three and four part harmony to selections as diverse as jazz, blues, Civil War songs and popular favorites. Most of the members have some musical experience with reading music or appearances in productions; but that is not a requirement for joining. They have now grown to over twenty voices. The non-profit Chorus performs two shows a year, Christmas and a Spring show, plus benefit performances for the community.
This year’s Christmas program will be entitled “Christmas Wishes” and will include songs like “Sing We Now of Christmas” to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”. Hanna will even throw in a couple of jazz pieces for a program sure to appeal to all. If you would like to have some fun singing with a bunch of fun women, plan to meet at 2201 Washington in Conway and bring your friends!
