Church Corner Aug. 16

Bethlehem Baptist Church

A lot has been going on at Bethlehem since my last report. Attendance has been faithful even though we have had a lot of our congregation traveling this summer. Brother Martin’s sermons continue to inspire us to be faithful followers of God.

We have welcomed new members, Ed and Sandra Bradberry, and Paula and Lauren Dayer.

Jeff Jones, Misionary to St. Petersburg, Russia, spoke to the church on July 6.

The church honored Madison Frye and Dallas Everett with a wedding shower on July 13. They were married at Bethlehem on Aug. 2.

We had a successful week of Vacation Bible School, July 20-24. Thanks to all of the volunteers that helped in any way.

Gavin Roberts and the Hispanic Mission Team from Jonesboro shared their work in the evening service June 29.

Six of our members went to Peru to serve our mission in Tarma. Those sharing the gospel there were, Jimmie Decker, Larry and Stewart McGee, Ginnie Hall, Scott Cavin, and Kelsey Fagala. Chase Roberts served there also and returned home the day our crew left. This past couple of weeks Gavin Roberts has been there. Seems that Tarma has become some of our people’s second home.

Scott Cavin also traveled to Jordan and Egypt with Bro. John David Smith, director of BMA Missions.

On Aug. 3, Gavin Roberts preached his first sermon at Bethlehem since surrendering to the ministry.

The past Saturday night the Brotherhood and WMA sponsored A “Dinner/Music/Dessert Auction” to raise funds to pave the lower parking lot. A big crowd of members and visitors enjoyed a great meal of pork loin, baked potatoes, green beans and rolls. And, of course, countless desserts that were purchased and donated to be eaten. The music was good with live Bluegrass and Gospel music. Thanks to all who supported this fund raiser.
