Singing convention set at LifeSong

The Arkansas-Oklahoma Gospel Singing Convention will be held at LifeSong Baptist Church in Greenbrier, on Friday, August 22, beginning at 6 p.m. and on Saturday, August 23, beginning at 10 a.m. Refreshments will follow the Friday night session and potluck lunch will follow the Saturday morning session.

The officers include President Larry Hutson, Vice-President Roy Guiltner from AR and OK Vice-President Thomas A. Williston. This convention attracts people from diverse areas and the public is always invited to join these singers and pianists as they continue traditional shape-note singing. This convention had its origin in 1879.

Freddie Mark Wilcox is the Pastor of LifeSong Baptist Church and is encouraging all who have an interest in gospel music to attend. The church is at 56 South Broadview, the corner of Church Street and Hwy 65, Greenbrier.

Lodging facilities recommended are Hilltop Inn/Suites, Greenbrier, AR 501-679-5100 and Microtel Inn, Conway, AR 501-327-0898. Many other lodging facilities are available in Conway.
