Big announcement possibly in store

Big retail report

possibly

in store

Mark your calendar for an important public meeting coming up soon. Important if you’re interested in the two major retail developments coming soon to Conway, that is. Representatives from the companies developing Central Landing and Lewis Crossing will be on hand at 6:30 p.m. Aug 5 at the Centennial Valley Special Events Center. Put the two shopping centers together and they add up to more than one million square feet of new retail, restaurants, etc.

The folks from Jim Wilson and Associates (with Central Landing) will speak a bit, and the people from Collett Associates (with Lewis Crossing) will say a few words. After that, a little birdy told me there might be a big announcement. So I’m planning on being there.

In with the new

A couple of noteworthy things are happening on Harkrider Street. First, the Waffle House is being remodeled and has very noticeably been gutted. I’ll try to find out a timeline for its reopening when that gets a little closer.

Next, the building that housed Butler Furniture Depot is getting a fresh coat of paint, I think, and someone is getting ready to put an antique mall in. If that doesn’t ring a bell, it is right next to Walgreen’s on Harkrider. Also, rumor has it the tire place next to the aforementioned building is moving out.

Vilonia rebuilding

It looks like Dollar General is rebuilding in Vilonia following its location being destroyed by the tornado. I’m sure that’s good news for the residents there who haven’t had very many options other than driving to Conway.

That’s about it for today. Email me your questions and suggestions. Have a good week.
