New subdivision, Hendrix property buys on agenda for planning commission

The Conway Planning Commission will consider adding three acres to a proposed new subdivision a few blocks south of Favre Lane and east of Salem Road.

The Salem Woods Subdivision will be developed by Hal Crafton, and in June 2013 the commission gave the plan preliminary approval and work on the property began. Now, another three acres is available, and would bring the total to about 25 acres to be subdivided for 78 single-family homes. A rezoning of these 3 acres from A-1 agricultural to R-1 single-family residential will also be up for the commission’s vote.

Also, Hendrix College has bought a few pieces of property on Washington Avenue and on Spencer Street for future expansion, and will be asking to rezone these from MF-3 multifamily (apartment) to S-1 institutional.

In other business, the commission will consider a conditional use permit for a new daycare on South Davis Street and another conditional use permit for a cell phone tower on the Second Baptist Church property on Dave Ward Drive.
