LITTLE ROCK — Sam Burchfield of Greenbrier High School has been awarded a a Future Farmers of America scholarship from the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board.
Burchfield, who plans to attend Lyon College, and two others were presented a plaque and $750 check by Dr. Lanny Ashlock, ASPB Project Manager, during the FFA State Convention at Camp Couchdale.
“It’s important for soybean producers to invest in the future of Arkansas students,” Ashlock said. “Our scholarship contest provided the opportunity for seniors interested in agriculture to meet industry professionals and learn about soybean production.”
Students were asked to interview an agricultural professional in the soybean industry and write an essay describing what they learned. One winner was selected by members of the ASPB from each FFA district: Northwest, Eastern and Southern. Sam’s essay won in the Northwest district
The winning essays can be found in the Students section at TheMiracleBean.com.
