Historic District Commission looking to fill position

The Conway Historic District Commission is seeking one new member who ideally resides within the Old Conway area or the Robinson Historic District to serve a 3-year term. Consideration will also be given to anyone residing within Conway city limits. The Conway HDC is a 9-member commission that reviews the appropriateness of construction projects within the Old Conway Design Overlay District and the Robinson Historic District. The HDC also serves as an advocate group making recommendations to local officials concerning historic preservation matters. The HDC typically meets the fourth Monday of each month at City Hall. Qualified nominees should demonstrate a positive interest or expertise in historic preservation, architecture, history, urban or regional planning, building rehabilitation, or real estate.

Nominations will be accepted from the interested individuals or from another person wishing to nominate an individual. The term will start August 25, 2014. All interested parties must reside within the city limits of Conway and be willing to attend all meetings. Nominations must be in writing on the nomination form found at HUwww.cityofconway.orgUH or it can be picked up at City Hall in the Mayor’s Office or City Clerk’s office.
