GREENBRIER — On July 13 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Greenbrier, it will be a big Sunday because it is Homecoming. Pastor Dr. Virgil Porter will preside with a special message and there will be music planned just for this occasion. A potluck lunch at noon will precede the appearance of a gospel quartet, The Kinsman, singing at 1:30 p.m.
Wilma Robinson said, "Like most other churches, homecomings are not what they used to be — all day singing with dinner on the grounds. Maybe you remember those. We have a really nice, cool new Family Life Center, so we won't be eating outside. Thank the Lord."
For the past 28 years, The Kinsmen have been delivering the good news of Jesus Christ through their spiritually uplifting musical ministry performing in churches and other venues throughout the Ark-La-Miss area. They have shared the stage with such notable groups as Gold City, The Hoppers, Karen Peck and New River, The Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet, The Hoskins Family, The Melody Boys, and Ivan Parker. Each of the Kinsmen present their own distinct musical styling, however, together, they share the common goal of being the best they can be as they present the Gospel in song with a touch of excellence. As always, they will strive to sing songs that reach out and touch the hearts and lives of people of all ages and backgrounds. The church is located at 676 Hwy 25, Greenbrier.
