Greenbrier man killed in motorcycle accident

A Greenbrier man was pronounced dead after his motorcycle struck the guardrail on Interstate 40 Friday evening.

Chad Eugene Hollenbaugh, 50, of Greenbrier, was driving his motorcycle west on the Interstate in Pope County when he atempted to merge from the right lane into the left lane.

He lost control of the vehicle, and it struck the guardrail on the left shoulder of the highway. Hollenbaugh was thrown from the motorcycle, went over the guardrail and landed about 20 feet from the crash. According to Arkansas State Police, it was not noted whether he was wearing a helmet.

The accident occured about 6 p.m. Friday at the 87-mile mark on I-40.
