Video: Pride Parade 2014

Posted: June 2, 2014 - 11:39am

With the recent but brief lift of the state's constitutional and legislative ban on same-sex marriage, the eleventh annual Conway Pride Parade and Festival had a focus on marriage equality.

Historically, the Conway Pride Parade and Festival has been a time for members of the gay community to come together with straight allies to "teach tolerance and acceptance."

The "teaching tolerance"

thing is kind of right. For many, the Pride Parades are celebrations of the LGBTQ community standing up against persecution and in remembrance of the Stonewall riot. The parade commemorates the riot as the beginning of the equal rights movement for LGBTQ people. Some in the community feel 'tolerance' is enough. Some feel 'equal treatment under the law' as spelled out in the US Constitution is the better goal.

I do find it rolling on the floor funny the slide show is interspersed with ads from Hobby Lobby. OOOPS!

Nice photo shoot!
