Election commission decides on recount in Co. Clerk race

The Faulkner County Election Commission will be doing a recount in Republican primary election for the position of Faulkner County Clerk.

Candidate Marvin Lessman claims that he was at the courthouse about a minute before 4:30 p.m. closing time on May 22, the last day to file for a recount, and the door was locked. This is disputed by the election commission and the county clerk’s office, who say he didn’t show up at all on the 22nd

“We’ve re-visited the Lessmann recount and we have decided to err on the side of caution and do a recount for him,” Election Committee Chairman Betty Pickett said.

The recount will be done on Friday morning at 11 a.m., Pickett said.
