With both cities in a state of recovery after deadly tornados tore through Faulkner County, class for Mayflower and Vilonia school districts will not be held Wednesday and possibly Thursday.

Frank Mitchell superintendent of Vilonia School District, said school will not be in session Wednesday.

He said he would make a decision Wednesday whether to hold school Thursday.

Faulkner County Civil Attorney David Hogue said Mayflower School District is out tomorrow also.

“School could be up and running, but the town is in disarray,” he said. “Trees and power lines are down, and families are not ready to send their children back to school.”

Mayflower Middle School at 17 Leslie St. and the Mayflower High School gym at 10 Leslie King Drive have been turned into shelters for those displaced by the tornados.
