Remember that today, April 26, is the McNew Cemetery Annual Clean-Up Day and Annual Meeting. Clean-up begins at 8 a.m. with the meeting following at 10 a.m.
Centerville United Methodist Church was packed on Easter Sunday with 64 people, many of them guests. Easter is always a fun day with the big kids hiding eggs and the little kids trying to find them, but this year the egg hunt was not the big event. Jay and Stephanie Strain’s children, Cody and Jasper, were both baptized immediately after the service. It is so special to see the kids as they grow and change in our little church. It was also pretty neat to meet Rick Gartner’s mama who came in with family all the way from Kansas.
Well, it is official. Kaylee Freeman and Zane Golden are registered with the other members of the GMS Archery Team to compete in the National Tournament in Louisville, Ky. The team has been raising money but had to wait to make sure we could secure the spots before it was a done deal. The GMS Archery Team won the 2014 Arkansas Game and Fish Regional Tournament in Little Rock and were in the top ten at the 2014 Arkansas Game and Fish State Tournament in Hot Springs. Say a little prayer for all the members and their families as they travel to Kentucky and back for the tournament.
Spring is here and the evidence is the layer of pollen outside. I have many students who have been sick with allergies and it sure puts a damper on the excitement of spring. Looking outside and seeing sunshine does make me happy, though. If you have news regarding Centerville, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Last weekend was a great Easter weekend. We started Friday night going to Mt. Olive Baptist Church for the night Easter egg hunt. Landon and I got up Sat morning and went to the Coppers Springs Baptist Church for their Easter egg hunt and hot dogs. We had a great time at both. On Sunday, Landon, my mom and I went to Church of Christ in Guy and Landon got to do another egg hunt in his class. It was also a great morning with Dana and Jerry coming to church too. Wish that would happen more often.
Saturday afternoon Mom, Landon and I sat out in the yard. I mowed some of the yard and Landon rode his four wheeler. Mom got a big kick out of watching him do that. Landon and I had a great weekend with my mom Betty Griffith. He just loves to help her. Love me some Landon.
Bessie and Phoenix Bearden visited Betty Griffith last Monday morning and they all had a good visit. Phoenix likes to come and see the dogs too.
The following are still needing our prayers: Joyce Jones, Betty Griffith, David Bearden and family, Wilma Stevenson and family, Clark and Linda Stevenson.
Congratulations to all the winners of the Miss Guy Perkins Pageant that was held last Saturday night at the Fielder Cafeteria. I thought it started at 7 and it started at 6 p.m., so I missed nearly all of it. But what I saw was that Guy sure does have some pretty young ladies in this community.

Please keep Sandy in your prayers for this Wednesday, April 30, she will get her pacemaker in at St. Vincent’s in Little rock.
Need prayers for my co-workers in the North Little Rock School District Transportation Department, too. Our fuelman/bus driver was killed in Little Rock last Tuesday night less than an hour after he left work. He had went to help a homeless man in a homeless camp in Little Rock and the man stabbed him 15 times. Our fuelman was a nice guy and he had been homeless at one time and he believed in going to help others because he had been there before. Rest in Peace Mr. Willy! This good deed cost him his life, but he will be rewarded in the long run! He will be missed by co-workers and family.
What a beautiful, sunny Easter morning we experienced here in Holland as we celebrated the resurrection here in Holland as we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The children had a beautiful weekend and Sunday to hunt their Easter eggs.
The egg hunt on Saturday afternoon was at the park. They enjoyed the bean and bread supper served to the people. The community center was full and was enjoyed by all who attended.
Then the Baptist Sunrise Service on Sunday morning and breakfast served by the Baptist church was a success and enjoyed by all.
Most of our children and grandchildren came to our house after church, and for Easter dinner. We had a fish fry, with all the trimmings, and also ham, ice cream and everything else. We served about 30 precious ones.
The children hunted more than 100 eggs including money filled eggs.
Trinity Cardin celebrated her 10th birthday with a party down at the park last Saturday. She enjoyed all her 26 guests, her two birthday cakes, with all the trimmings, gifts, goodies and good wishes.
Last Saturday, some of our family came by our house for a while before going to the park and included Taylor Vaughan and son, Zander, and their grandmother and great-grandmother, Darlene Goff, all of Conway. We enjoyed them so much.
Ray and I visited some good, former dairy farmer friends of ours, Dan and Maxine Strain of Rose Bud, one day last week. They have both been in the hospital at Searcy. Their children take care of them when they are at home. Now they are staying some at son, Ricky’s.
I don’t know what us old people would do if we didn’t have good children to help take care of us.
The Faulkner County Singing Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. the second Sunday in May at Centerville United Methodist Church. The public is invited to attend.
Then the Faulkner County Singing Convention will be the fourth weekend in July at LifeSong Baptist Church in Greenbrier. This is on Friday night and all day Saturday before the fourth Sunday in July. Plans are for another “big one.” We always have singers from other states, and this helps a lot.
Please pray for Betty Applegate, Marsha Brown, Eldene Duran, Sunny Earnhart, Marian McGinty, Florene Gall, Tammy Garrison, Arlene King, Ruth Naylor, Earnestine Newberry, Ann Spears, Reba Stevenson, Weldon and Reva Stevenson, Margie and Ray Fulmer, Bobi Hendrickson, Brenda Firestone and Wanda Rose.
Sunny Earnhart has been in the hospital again.
If God is our destination, the Bible is our road map.
