Mahmoud Adam, owner of Layla’s, said representatives from Con-Ark Village, Inc. have told the restaurant there are plans to build a “medical facility” on the vacant lot next door at the corner of Oak and Factory Streets.

President David Baker of Con-Ark Village, Inc., an Arkansas corporation that owns The Village Center on Oak Street, has purchased the vacant lot next to Layla’s Gyros & Pizzeria in a $130,000 transaction.

According to Faulkner County Property Assessor records, Baker purchased the 16,250-SF lot June 14, 2013 from Greenfield Environmental Multistate Trust LLC, a brownfields economic development service group.

Marc Weinreich, managing principal of Greenfield Environmental Multistate Trust LLC, said the group originally acquired the property through bankruptcy in 2011.

The group sells property and uses the proceeds to fund environmental action, Weinreich said.

Mahmoud Adam, owner of Layla’s, said representatives from Con-Ark Village, Inc. have told the restaurant there are plans to build a “medical facility” on the vacant lot.

“We have been told they are going to build a medical facility next door,” he said.

When asked if there are plans to demolish the building leased by Layla’s and Viki’s @ the Village, Adam said no, but he is concerned about parking space.

“We don’t know what we’re going to do,” he said.
