Cancer fundraiser featuring Arkatext set for Friday

A fundraiser concert featuring local group Arkatext will be held at 6:30 Tonight at Kings Live Music at 1020 Front Street in Conway.


The fundraiser is being held by the Central Arkansas Cancer Foundation in partnership with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in an annual effort to assist families with the treatment costs associated with cancer. This year, the benefit is for 4-year-old Kenzee Henderson, daughter of Kenneth and Rachel Henderson of Damascus and acute lymphoblastic leukemia patient.

There will be a film crew from California at the fundraiser shooting footage for a planned reality TV show about the members of Arkatext, who rap about general “country” topics like hunting and fishing. Arkatext is the opening act for MC Hammer at Toad Suck Daze.

Musicians Akeem Kemp from Morrilson, the Megan McMillan band from Tuscaloosa, Ala., and DJ Discipline will also perform.
