Teen arrested after apparent armed robbery

Police responded to what had been reported by a neighbor as a possible hostage situation and possible shot fired at a Tyler Street apartment complex on Monday night.

Officers arrived to the 1800 block of Tyler Street at about 9 p.m. to find the apartment apparently hastily abandoned, CPD public information officer La Tresha Woodruff said.

“The Sergeant told me there were still plates of food on the table,” Woodruff said.

Eventually, some apartment residents started showing up and told police that three teenagers came to the apartment and one pulled a gun in an apparent robbery attempt. Everyone in the apartment scattered, Woodruff said.

The 17-year-old with the gun, allegedly, was found and arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery. Woodruff said that at this point it isn’t clear that the other two teenagers knew anything about a robbery plan.

Officers found a handgun they believe to have been used in the robbery at the teen's mother's home, along with some Xanax.
