Smoke in town from controlled burn

The pall of smoke hanging over Conway and much of Faulkner County is coming from a controlled burn at Camp Robinson according to county and Conway Fire Department officials.

The Arkansas National Guard is burning nearly 400 acres at the "Maneuver Training Center" to clear out flammable underbrush. This is done periodically when conditions are right and the controlled burn can be monitiored and kept in check. The intent is to hopefully prevent an "uncontrolled burn" when conditions are not right, which could also be called "a forest fire."
