One dead after accident involving Quitman school bus

No injuries reported from students, bus driver

One person is dead after an accident involving a Quitman School District bus Friday morning.

According to the Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash summary, the bus was stopped on Highway 124 east of Quitman to pick up a child when a van struck the bus from behind.

Martha Bearden, the driver of the van, died in the accident and a passenger in the van, Phoenix Bearden, is listed as injured. No injuries were reported on the bus.
