Conway Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting award recipients were recognized in a small ceremony at Mike’s Place Thursday afternoon.
Chamber President and CEO Brad Lacy said in years past, the Chamber tried to keep award recipients a secret and reveal the winners at the Annual Meeting event, but has found it’s more successful and allows the recipients to celebrate their success longer if they’re told in advance.
The Chamber partnered with 501 LIFE Magazine last year, and now reveals award recipients through the Central Arkansas magazine.
In the ceremony Thursday, award recipients were recognized with blown glass trophies from Central Arkansas Trophy. Lacy said the individuals and businesses would be recognized at the Annual Meeting with a video presentation of their accomplishments.
“It’s a special event because so many businesses and individuals make this community special, and the Annual Meeting is a time to recognize them for their work,” Lacy said.
Award recipients include: Distinguished Service Award, Robert H. “Bunny” Adcock; Good Neighbor Award, Quentin Washispack; Outstanding Hospitality, Kings Live Music; Outstanding Non-Profit, Independent Living Services; Outstanding Retailer, The Kitchen Store and More; Outstanding Large Employer, CenterPoint Energy; Outstanding Small Business, Sonshine Academy; Business Executive of the Year, Brad Hegeman of Nabholz Construction and Young Business Leader of the Year, Umang Patel of Conway Management.
The Chamber’s Annual Meeting will be held March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Conway Expo Center and Fairgrounds. This year’s speaker is Steve Mueller, president and CEO of Southwestern Energy Company. Mueller serves on the boards of America’s Natural Gas Alliance, the American Exploration and Production Council and the Independent Petroleum Association of America.
Individual tickets are $75, and tables and sponsorships begin at $600. Call the Chamber at 501-327-7788 to reserve a space.
