Police Beat 03/05/14

Among reports recently released by the Conway Police Department:

Theft by receiving at 828 Chestnut Street, Big Bubba Pawn.

Fred Meyer Jewelers out of Little Rock told police a pair of earrings that had been recently stolen were pawned at the shop.

Fraudulent use of a credit card, US Bank.

The victim told police someone used her account to make several unauthorized purchases from October of last year to March 3. The victim said she received a phone call from a computer company wishing to verify her purchase. When she checked with her bank, she found there were unauthorized charges made overseas and at online flower shops, dating websites and shoe stores. The total taken was $2,600.

Property damage southbound on Highway 65.

A motorist filed a police report stating he was driving on Highway 65 when a sheet of ice from the vehicle that was passing him flew from the vehicle’s roof and crashed into his windshield. The victim’s windshield was broken and had a hole the size of a basketball in it, according to the report.

Abandoned vehicle at 1900 block of East Dave Ward Drive.

A Mercury was left in the traffic lane near East German Lane, with the doors locked and no keys inside the vehicle. Police made contact with the owner, who stated she left the vehicle there because she started sliding on ice. She told police she would have called a wrecker, but she didn’t have money.

Theft of property from a motor vehicle at 2500 block of West Martin Street.

The victim reported to police that someone stole the license plate from her vehicle.

Shoplifting at 1155 Skyline Drive, Walmart.

Loss prevention employees told police a woman attempted to take a wallet and a purse without paying for them.

Residential burglary at 1900 block of Bruce Street.

The victim told police someone stole two laptops and a television from her residence. It appeared the suspect was able to get into the apartment through the door, though it was locked.

Breaking or entering at 3300 block of Tyler Street.

The victim told police someone entered his patio storage area and stole his wood pellet grill.

Dog bite at 20 block of Smoking Oaks Road.

The victim told police his neighbor’s dogs have been getting out and chasing other people in the neighborhood. According to the man, he was able to catch one of the dogs, and when he knocked on the neighbor’s door to return the dog, the neighbor opened the door and another dog got out of the house and bit him on the arm. Animal control officers are following up on the report.

Theft of property from a motor vehicle at 10 block of Meadowbrook Drive.

The victim told police someone stole his license plate from his vehicle.

• Theft of motor fuel at 1030 Skyline Drive, Flash Market Citgo.

A cashier told police a man in a white truck pumped about $30 in fuel and did not pay for it.

Fraudulent use of a credit card, Arvest Bank.

The victim told police someone used her account at Bestbuy.com to make a $500 purchase.

Theft of property from a motor vehicle at 2300 College Avenue.

The victim told police someone stole his license plate from his vehicle.

Breaking or entering at 1800 block of South Boulevard.

The victim told police someone broke into his storage shed and stole copper wire and tools valued at more than $2,000.

Theft of motor fuel at 1030 Skyline Drive, Flash Market Citgo.

An employee told police someone driving a white SUV pumped 3.9 gallons of gas valued at around $12 and left without paying for it.

Possession of a controlled substance and shoplifting at 1155 Skyline Drive, Walmart.

Loss prevention employees stopped a woman who attempted to leave the store without paying for makeup. According to the report, the woman was searched by police, and was found to have a bag of marijuana and digital scales on her person. The woman began to hyperventilate and eventually slumped to the floor, and she was taken to Conway Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Theft of property at 205 Tilk Road, Ag Pro of Arkansas.

Someone at the business told police an unknown subject or subjects stole two John Deere ATVs valued at $13,500 each.

Motor vehicle theft at 2000 block of Rich Smith Lane.

The victim told police someone stole her unlocked vehicle, which had keys inside of it.

Shoplifting at 1155 Skyline Drive, Walmart.

Loss prevention employees observed a woman pass all points of sale with a pair of panties, a purse, earrings and shoes that had not been paid for. The woman was taken into custody by Conway Police.

Shoplifting at 601 Elsinger Boulevard, Belk.

A woman was stopped for concealing two items of clothing and attempting to leave the store.

Shoplifting at 1155 Skyline Drive, Walmart.

Loss prevention employees stopped a woman who attempted to leave the store without paying for a pair of men’s socks, rings and soap.
