Several agencies respond to vehicle driven off I-40 near Mayflower

Several agencies responded to a vehicle that was driven off of the westbound I-40 overpass near Mayflower last night.

Mayflower Fire Chief Carl Rossini said the vehicle flipped into the creek after leaving the road near the ongoing construction.

The driver was the only person in the car. He was recovered by first responders, loaded into an ambulance and brought to Conway Regional. Rossini said he did not know his condition Tuesday morning.

To be on the safe side, Rossini said Faulkner County Rescue was brought in to make sure no one else was in the vehicle. The vehicle was then extracted from the creek.

Several agencies responded to the incident, including Mayflower Fire Department, Oak Grove Fire Department, Arkansas State Police, Faulkner County Sheriff's Office, Mayflower Police Department and MEMS.

The accident is still under investigation.
