Scroggin to be guest speaker at Vilonia Chamber banquet

Preston Scroggin, director of the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission, will serve as the guest speaker at the 2014 Vilonia Area Chamber of Commerce banquet set for 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 14.

“Preston will be speaking from his current position with the state regarding the value of Arkansas farmers to the rest of the state and nation,” said Jill Bonnema, chamber executive officer. The deadline to purchase tickets is March 5.

The menu will include brisket and smoked chicken catered by D and L Catering. The cost of individual tickets is $25. Also, sponsorships are available beginning at $200.

The event, Bonnema also said, is a community gathering of both business owners and residents providing them time to reflect on 2013 and to recognize some individuals who went above and beyond in providing service to the community.

In conjunction, the chamber is accepting nominations for Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year, Youth of the Year, School Employee of the Year, City Employee of the Year.
