Science or magic?

St. Joseph Middle School students who belong to the after-school Science Club performed a bit of magic in one of their recent labs. They watched folded petals of paper flowers, that they’d earlier cut out and colored, open and blossom like a real flower.

The trick demonstrated a scientific phenomenon known as “capillary action.” Capillaries are tiny blood vessels between the end of your arteries and the beginning of your veins.
