Extension office conducting training this week

The Faulkner County Extension Service will conduct a Private Applicator Training on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Tommy Lewis Conference Center in the Natural Resources Building in Conway. The Natural Resources Building is located at 110 S. Amity Road. Persons needing to be re-certified or have never attended a Private Applicator Training and may want to purchase restricted use pesticides, should also plan to attend.

The Private Applicator Training is open to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, martial or veteran status, or any other legally protected status. Persons with disabilities that require alternate means of communication of program information (large print, audiotapes, etc.) should notify the Faulkner County Extension offices in Conway 501-329-8344 as soon as possible prior to this activity.

There is no pre-registration required, simply show up. There will be a $10 charge for the training which is payable at the door. Please make checks payable to the Faulkner County Extension Services.

Other upcoming Extension meeting of interest in January:

Jan. 23 — Commercial Fruit Horticulture Production meeting; Tommy Lewis Conference Room. Meeting registration will begin at 8 a.m. and $25 registration fee will be accessed at the door for material and lunch.

Jan. 24 — Beef IQ sign-up deadline. Beef IQ is an in-depth training for Cattle production and management. The cost is $75. Participants will receive over $750 in educational lessons and materials. Eighteen hours of classroom activity. Up to eight field day activity.

Participants will have online access to educational resources for Beef IQ members.

Jan. 27 — Back to the Basics Beef meeting; Tommy Lewis Conference Room. Meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and conclude by 6:45 p.m. Dr. Tom Troxel will discuss the importance of correct Sire Selection and Management.

Jan. 30 — Arkansas River Valley Soybean Production meeting; Conway County Fairgrounds in Morrilton; Registration starts at 8:30 am. Featured speakers will include Dr. Jeremy Ross, Dr. Gus Lorenz, Dr. Travis Faske, Dr. Bob Scott and Scott Stiles.
