Gunshot hits home near school

Posted: December 31, 2013 - 11:38am

The Conway Police Department is investigating gunfire near the Marguerite Vann Elementary School that struck a nearby home. No one was hurt.

According to a CPD incident report, a resident near the school reported hearing what sounded like five gunshots at around 7:20 Monday evening. One bullet apparently hit this resident’s home, breaking a glass door and denting the solid door behind it. Officers collected what is described in the report as “a small bullet from a firearm” amid the broken glass. Police searched the area for evidence such as shell casings or other damage and found nothing, according to the report.

The school has video cameras that may have captured any vehicles driving near the school at the time the shots were reported. Check back for any updates.

Nope... Mike you're correct as always

Ugly we could work with, but there's nothing we can do for stupid. Surely he can't be related to Antoine and Cotton.

Cotton

Cotton was daddy's cousin. Don't know Antoine but knew of Anton. I used to have a lot of fun shooting daddy's double-barrel 12-guage down by the lake. Things sure were a lot simpler then.

The liberal mind-set

My initial response was to blast the ignorace shown in the first comment but I decided against doing that. It seems lots of folks with that mindset would not understand what was said anyway..

It seems to be normal now for folks to forget the concept of personal responsibility. Everyone wants to blame guns for everything that goes wrong in society but what it comes down to is too many people not wanting to take responsibility for their personal actions. I still believe in the old adage of "Guns don't kill people; people kill people." While it might be easier to kill someone with a gun than with a tire iron or baseball bat the fact remains that no matter how someone dies they are still dead. Should we ban tire irons and baseball bats? It might look a bit silly for the World Series to be played with plastic baseball bats, don't you think?

Personal responsibility

Personal responsibility doesn't stop at the end of your nose. When you shoot a gun, personal responsibility goes as far as the bullet travels. Whether you shoot because you feel justified, or because you are angry or depressed, or as may be the case here because you were just playing around, you have full responsibility for that deadly weapon in your hands. Every time something like this happens, your argument for unfettered and unquestioned access gets weakened a bit. So don't talk to me. Talk to whoever is carelessly or thoughtlessly or maliciously putting innocent children in danger. Either you do something or America will eventually do something.

Code word

"America will eventually do something."

What you mean is the liberal legislators in Washington will ramrod or hide a bill until it gets passed unawares. And then, when the populace who overwhelmingly supports personal gun ownership gets [filtered word] off, America will truly do something.

Paranoia

Paranoia /ˌpærəˈnɔɪə/ (adjective: paranoid /ˈpærənɔɪd/) is a thought process believed to be heavily influenced by anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion. Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory beliefs, or beliefs of conspiracy concerning a perceived threat towards oneself. (e.g. "Everyone is out to get me.")

There is medication that can help. And the good news is that mental health is covered under the Affordable Care Act.
