Conway police officers went shopping with about 45 children Sunday for Shop with a Cop, a Martin McDaniel Fraternal Order of Police event.

The event is sponsored by the FOP and community donors.

Each child, recommended to the program by their school counselors, is allowed to spend $100 for Christmas.

“Officers had a wonderful time, the smiles and hugs made it all worthwhile,” said La Tresha Woodruff, Conway Police Department public information officer. “Special thanks to Walmart on Skyline Drive.”

Woodruff said more than a dozen officers and a couple of civilian employees took part in the program.

Those who were scheduled to but were unable to participate due to inclement weather will be called and given new dates, Woodruff said.
