Holland Baptist Church

Brother Chad Brandon’s message was titled “Is Jesus Worth It?,” taken from John 12. By our actions we answer that question.

Following morning worship, a large number of ladies participated in the Ladies Progressive Lunch and Ornament Exchange. We entered the warm, inviting, beautiful homes of Mary Drysdale, Betsy Petty, and Kelli Martin for appetizers, soups, and desserts. At Kelli’s we also enjoyed the ornament exchange. The food was delicious and we appreciate the extra preparation by these ladies to make this a special time of fellowship.

The fish fry scheduled for tonight has been postponed due to the weather. Also the men will not meet for their fellowship breakfast Sunday morning.

Weather permitting, our regular business meeting will take place Sunday at 6 p.m. We will be voting on the budget for 2014. All members are encouraged to attend.

A Christmas program presented by our Wednesday night kids under the direction of Diane Cummings is scheduled for Sunday night, Dec. 22. We have a great group of kids and are looking forward to their presentation of the true meaning of Christmas.

If you’re looking for a church where the Word is preached and the love of God abounds we would love for you to join us at Holland Baptist Church.

Wesley United Methodist Church

The Christmas season will be celebrated at Wesley United Methodist Church in a variety of ways. “Christ is Born,” a Christmas Cantata, will be performed by the chancel choir on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. Joining in the performance will be several students from the music department of the University of Central Arkansas.

On Sunday, Dec. 15, the annual Christmas potluck and party will be held at 11:30 a.m. following morning worship. On Sunday, Dec. 22, the eighth annual cookie and candy sale will be held in the Fellowship Hall. This year’s proceeds will go toward the Bread Basket food pantry.

Finally, on Christmas Eve, two services will be held. The first service will take place at 5:30 p.m. and will be held in the sanctuary at Wesley United Methodist Church. And at 7:30 p.m., a second service will be held in downtown Conway at the Kris Allen Stage in Simon Park. This second one will be a community event and Wesley welcomes anyone who wishes to attend. For more information, call the church office at 329-7629.

The public is invited to all of these events. Wesley United Methodist Church is located at 2310 E. Oak St. across from Caldwell Country Store.
