School closings due to weather

List of Faulkner County schools closed Friday, Dec. 6:

Conway Public Schools

Greenbrier Schools

Guy-Perkins Schools

Mayflower Schools

Mt. Vernon-Enola Schools

Conway Hematology and Oncology Clinic will open at 10 a.m.


UPDATED 6:15 A.M. Via Hendrix College's Facebook page: "Hendrix administrative offices will be closed today except for essential personnel. Classes will be held on campus unless students are notified otherwise by faculty. Accommodations will be made for students living off campus. If you must be outdoors today, please use extreme caution when walking on sidewalks and paths to avoid injury."


UPDATED 6 P.M. Mayflower Schools will not have classes Friday.


UPDATED 3:45 P.M. Central Baptist College's campus will be closed Friday.


UPDATED 3:20 P.M. Vilonia School District has canceled classes for Friday.


UPDATED 3 P.M. From the University of Central Arkansas website: "The University of Central Arkansas will close at 3:30 p.m. today and the campus will be closed tomorrow, Friday, December 6 due to impending inclement weather."

According to UCA Police's Facebook account, the Cafeteria will be open 4 to 6 tonight and 11 to 1 and 4 to 6 tomorrow. HPER & Library will be open at least normal business hours.

The LSAT and SAT tests scheduled for Saturday, December 7 have also been canceled. UPDATED 2:45 P.M. Conway Christian School will not have class Friday. Students will still have assignments and the day will be a "Cyber Day."

"Cyber Days" are days they will be out of school due to emergency or inclement weather and still receive credit by doing cyber assignments.  A cyber day will count toward the required instructional days.

Mt. Vernon-Enola and Greenbrier school districts have also decided to cancel classes for tomorrow.


UPDATED 2 P.M. From Conway Public Schools Superintendent Greg Murry: "Based on weather forecasts that consistently predict a major weather event tonight and tomorrow, classes will be cancelled for the Conway Public Schools for Friday, December 6.  Please note that this day will be made up on January 6, 2014 which was originally scheduled on our calendar as a teacher professional development day."

St. Joseph School, which follows Conway Public School's lead when it comes to inclement weather, will also be closed Friday.


Guy-Perkins School District has announced they will be running busses at 2:30 p.m. Thursday to make sure students and bus drivers get home before bad weather starts. Guy-Perkins schools will also be closed Friday due to weather.

School closings will be added as the paper hears about them.
