Conway will open the McGee Center at 3800 College Ave. (about two block past the Conway Country Club) as a temporary emergency warming center if extreme cold temperatures and power losses happen as anticipated on Friday and over the weekend.
As of Thursday, city officials said the McGee Center won’t be open for overnight stays or meals, but some local churches may be providing these services as the need arises.
If the McGee Center reaches its capacity, people seeking shelter will be directed to another designated shelter, likely a church.
