CARTI has announced plans to open a second satellite facility in Conway designed to expand its treatment services to include chemotherapy for area cancer patients.
Scheduled to open on Nov. 13, CARTI Medical Oncology will be located at 2425 Dave Ward Dr., Suite 201.
“CARTI Medical Oncology treats almost 1,000 patients from Conway in our Little Rock office,” said Jan Burford, CARTI president and chief executive officer. “By opening this office, we are making chemotherapy more convenient for those patients in and around the Conway area.”
The new CARTI clinic will be the second Conway location for the statewide cancer care network, which first opened a radiation therapy facility located at 2605 College Ave. in 1996.
“Cancer treatment is challenging enough without the burden of long-distance, daily commutes that can be taxing on a patient’s energy level,” Burford explained. “Making both chemotherapy and radiation therapy available closer to home, CARTI is better able to serve the comprehensive needs of Conway-area cancer patients.”
Treating patients at the new center will be Dr. Lawrence A. Mendelsohn, Dr. Thomas R. Sneed and Dr. Jamie L. Burton, all hematologists/medical oncologists.
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new CARTI office is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Dec. 5.
CARTI is an independent, nonprofit network of cancer care facilities with locations throughout Arkansas. CARTI has treated approximately 220,000 cancer patients to date.
