Don’t forget that tomorrow, Oct. 13, the Faulkner County Singing Club will meet at Centerville United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. The public is always invited to these events and the kids of Centerville will be providing a special treat this week. Our young Centerville attendees have been leading at our regular church service each week and will do so again tomorrow. Join us tomorrow for the October Singing and see what a great group of young folks we have at Centerville UMC.
Last week end was a good week end for the folks at Centerville. Several families camped at Woolly Hollow State Park to participate in our annual Service at the Lake. We had a potluck breakfast fit for a king Saturday morning and followed that with a potluck supper that could rival any Thanksgiving feast. Rick Gartner has obviously spent a great amount of time dove hunting this year because he grilled bacon wrapped dove for everyone. The only thing I missed from my week end was some roasted marshmallows and that is only because I was too full to eat anything else. There were several visitors Sunday morning that were lucky enough not only to participate in yet another potluck cook-out, but also to witness the baptism of Hayden Ray. Hayden made his decision to be baptized this week end while with his older brother, Colton Ray, so Colton assisted Lana Gartner in the baptism. It was a special day for the people of Centerville.
We were blessed last weekend with a much needed rain. We received 1.7/10 inches, and were also blessed that we didn’t have any storms. The Lord always helps us in His own good time. Not ours.
We had a good turnout at the International Shoe Factory Reunion, last Saturday at Naylor Fellowship Hall at Naylor Community, and lots of wonderful food and hugs and fellowship. We were always like one big family.
I was asked to announce we will meet annually on the first Saturday in October.
Each year there is always someone missing that attended the years before.
Betty Applegate enjoyed a visitor coming by, after attending the reunion. Cecil Graham of Damascus. They hadn’t seen each other in many years. Cecil’s late wife Marzell was one of Betty’s close friends when they worked at the shoe factory.
Elizabeth Johnson has returned to her home in Little Rock after spending some time here helping take care of her mother Marian McGinty and Aunt Sunny Earnhart.
Rosa Lee and Robert McElroy attended a birthday party for their little 3-year-old grandson, Jeffie Gardner. Family and friends gathered at Laurel Park for the occasion recently.
We enjoyed a visit Saturday afternoon of a friend, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Taylor Vaughan and son Zander Ray and Darlene Goss of Conway. With Lori, Shelley and Paige Ponder, and Sunday afternoon Marsha Brown and John and Sherry Sellers.
Neighbors, please send me your news. I can’t report it if I don’t know it.
Remember tomorrow afternoon, Oct. 13, the Faulkner County Singing Club meets at Centerville United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. I hear we are going to hear some special singing. The public is invited.
God sees the road ahead and longs to lead us as we travel it.
