Pat’s Lane — which runs through the middle of Bob Courtway Middle School’s campus — will be closing from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day to provide a safer environment for children.
In a letter to neighbors, Bob Courtway Principal Karen Lasker explained students cross Pat’s Lane to get to the playground and gates will be installed to ensure a safe route for the children.
“We understand this may be inconvenient for you, but fortunately there is a short alternate route using Oak Street and Courtway Drive,” Lasker said in the letter. “We wanted to let you know in advance so that you may adjust your driving patterns as well as let your patrons and employees know about the change.”
One gate will be near the small parking lot to the south of the campus close to the U.S. Compounding building. The other gate will be where Pat’s Lane connects with Courtway Drive to the northwest of campus.
Parents have also been asked to park either near the gym or near the cafeteria if they visit the school during lunch time.
The gates will start closing Monday Oct. 7.
