Conway Fire Department will host Firefighters for the Cure, an event to benefit the Hearts on Fire program supporting cancer patients and their families who live in Faulkner County.
The event, which includes a 5k race, a fire truck pull competition, a survivor’s parade, food and merchandise vendors, will be held in downtown Conway Saturday.
The Hearts on Fire 5k begins at 8 a.m., and men and women of all ages are invited to participate.
The survivor’s parade will begin at Main and Harkrider streets at noon.
Firefighters from across the state will escort cancer survivors downtown.
Honor guards, bag pipers, and new and antique fire trucks will also be part of the parade.
All cancer survivors are invited to participate.
Event organizer Mark McEntire asked that survivors “give us the honor” of escorting them in the parade.
Registration for the fire truck pull competition starts at 1 p.m., and the pull begins at 2 p.m.
There will be fire department teams and open teams participating.
Throughout the day, there will be events geared toward children, such as face painting and bounce houses.
Race participants can pick up packets at Dick’s Sporting Goods Friday between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
