Mt. Vernon-Enola awarded grant

Zachary Simmons' class at Mt. Vernon-Enola gets instruction from their teacher. The EAST program at the school has received the Beyond the Bell grant.

The EAST Initiative is pleased announce that the Mount Vernon—Enola EAST program has been awarded the EAST Beyond the Bell Grant funding made possible by the Arkansas Department of Education and the EAST Initiative. The MVE EAST Tech Camp will provide a tech camp to demonstrate how EAST works and give campers exposure to technologies in the EAST classroom. The tech camp will be held after school.

The camp will have campers from 3rd grade and up, including community members, for 5 hours per week for a total of 40 hours. All sessions are begin taught by EAST students. The sessions will include: digital music, graphic design with Adobe, 3-D Design with GPS, Filming and Final Cut Pro.

The campers will form teams and select projects that will help the community or solve a problem while learning new technologies. The camp will take place on Tuesday and Thursday’s ending on Oct. 10 with a student showcase for parents.
