Impassioned speakers both for and against the transitional housing in the Brown’s subdivision of the Northeast Old Conway Area came forward at the planning commission meeting last week, and the issue will be discussed at Conway City Council Tuesday night.
The planning commission moved to recommend council approve the amendment to the Northeast Old Conway Area Specific Plan to allow transitional housing where the Phoenix Recovery Center is operating.
Additionally, council will be voting on an ordinance to accept federal funding and appropriate grant revenue to the Conway Community Development Block Grant program. The Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $417,514 in grant funds to the CDBG for FY 2013. The city has plans to appropriate those funds into multiple areas including the Faulkner County Council on Aging Down payment, Pine Street Area Revitalization and Faulkner County Council on Developmental Disabilities.
The city council meeting will be at 6:30 Tuesday evening at the Judge Russell L. “Jack” Roberts District Court Building at 810 Parkway Street. There will be a committee meeting at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the Parks Master Plan Development.
Monday, city council will also have a committee meeting at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall’s downtown conference room to discuss RFQs received for Voluntary Supplemental Employee Benefit, RFQs for 457 Deferred Compensation Plan and Street and Engineering Department salary review.
