Blackbird Academy of Arts has announced its schedule of theatre classes for 2013-2014, and to introduce a new group of theatre faculty.
Trent Reese, who holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from the University of Central Missouri, will be teaching Acting Workshop 101 for ages 10-12 and Acting Workshop 102 for ages 13-18. Trent has training in acting, directing, and stage management, and has worked with the Berkshire Theatre Group in Massachusetts, as well as with Conway’s Lantern Theater, where he currently serves on the board of directors.
Madison Ledbetter, who is finishing up her Bachelor’s in Theatre from the University of Central Arkansas, will be teaching a Fun with Drama class for ages 7-9. Madison has worked with Radio Disney’s Road Crew, the UCA Costume Shop, and has taken part in productions with both UCA and the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre. This past summer she was the director of Acting Out, a summer theatre camp for kids in her home town of Malvern.
Maggie Ashburn will be heading up Blackbird’s growing musical theatre program, teaching Singing for the Stage for ages 7-9, Musical Theatre 101 for 10-12 years of age, and Musical Theatre 102 for ages 13-18. Maggie graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a degree in Choral Music Education and then went on to work in the Dover School District as head junior high and assistant senior high choral director before deciding to pursue her Masters in Music Education at the University of Central Arkansas.
These instructors will be working with students to provide a solid foundation in theatre training, as well as preparing them for a variety of performance opportunities throughout the 2013-2014 season.
