The Conway Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Outstanding Women in Business Awards through Sept. 25.
Whitney Cummings, director of membership development for the chamber, said the community should keep two things in mind when casting nominations.
“I think they should keep in mind anyone who has been influential in the business community, and anyone who has made an impact in their own business,” she said.
The Women in Business Awards honor the women of Conway who have excelled in leadership and community service, and who have been an inspiration to others on both a personal and professional level.
A panel of chamber executives outside of Arkansas will review the nominations and select five individuals for the Outstanding Women in Business Award.
“We use a panel outside of the community to judge unbiasedly,” Cummings said. “We should know the winners by mid-October.”
Out of the five recipients, one will be selected to receive the Diamond Achievement Award. This award recognizes an individual who has inspired many generations of women through the positive impact she has made in her profession and community.
The awards will be presented at a luncheon Dec. 3 at the Conway Expo Center. Heather Kendrick, host of Conway Corp.’s original program Living Local, will lead a panel discussion beginning at 9 a.m. with the luncheon at 11:30 a.m.
During the luncheon keynote speaker Terri Jordan, vice president of technology for Microsoft Retail Stores, will be take part in a live interview with KARK morning anchor Mallory Hardin. “Terri will talk about her work experience, being a woman and making it as far as she has in all her job opportunities,” Cummings said.
Reservations are required. Tables of eight can be purchased for $600 and individual seats for $50. Proceeds act as a fundraiser for the Women in Business committee.
